A TRANSFORMED Dalry property featured on a hit BBC show earlier this week.
The detached cottage in the town appeared on Homes Under the Hammer - a daytime show which charts the renovation of properties picked up at auction.
The latest episode of series 27 saw the programme come to North Ayrshire - after a property in the Garnock Valley which had been left derelict for a number of years was picked up.
The two-bedroom cottage was picked up by a man named Mohammed, who paid £59,000 for the home at auction back in November 2021.
A joiner and builder by trade, with experience spanning around 30 years, Mohammed was well versed in 'fixing up' properties - but took on a monumental task.
After the home was purchased, Homes Under the Hammer host Martel Maxwell visited the property and showed the state of disrepair it was in at this time.
She commented: "It's a great size but the auction catalogue isn't lying when it says this is a project property. It's in a bit of a state of disrepair.
"Some of your ceiling is missing, the windows could definitely do with an upgrade and you've got dark patches everywhere.
"You really need to look hard to see this lot's potential but the space is brilliant and you have good sized garden and a terrific view."
An agent for Wilsons Auctions commented that despite the state of the cottage, with development it could be valued at around £175,000, or achieve £750 per month rent.
After visiting following his purchase of the property, Mohammed said he planned to completely change the layout of the home.
Carrying out most of the work himself, he intended the project to take around four months - and he hoped to spend around £15,000.
The show then came back to the property once the work was completed - some two years after it was initially purchased.
Everything within the cottage was ripped out, and Mohammed started again, but the transformation was incredible.
However, the renovation did cost £25,000 - two thirds more than initially hoped.
When a property expert visited Dalry to look at the property in March this year - it proved worth the effort for Mohammed, who we were told intends to rent the cottage.
After spending a total of £84,000, it was stated that the property would now be worth around £160-170,000 - or monthly rent of £750.
The episode of Homes Under the Hammer is available to view in full online via the BBC iPlayer.
