A SALTCOATS takeaway has been named as the best in Ayrshire at a recent awards ceremony.

The Viking Cafe in Saltcoats received the top gong at the Ayrshire business awards on Sunday, August 18.

Owner and head chef Wael Manasra has been operating under the Viking Cafe brand in North Ayrshire for over a decade now.

He initially launched a takeaway under this name in Kilwinning back in 2013 before their Saltcoats branch opened four years ago.

Though he no longer operates the Kilwinning business, he is thrilled to still be offering their fantastic Turkish and Indian cuisine on Countess Street.

The Viking Cafe has been no stranger to award success over the years, having won several accolades in the past, though Wael says this particular award felt extra special.

He commented: “It was a good feeling because this is different from other awards.

“This is a local award and there are so many other fantastic businesses around here."

Though the head chef is certain that the customer service provided in store is what helped push the Viking Cafe over the line.

He continued: “It’s not only about the food, it’s the whole package from the service to the management that is judged.

“Our signature is the food is fresh made in front of the customer. The customer knows the difference this makes.

“The menu is open and we can change it based on what the customer requires – we are easy going.”

And it was those customers who have supported the takeaway over the years that Wael wished to thank in light of their most recent success.

He added: “We appreciate all their support and please keep continuing to support us to keep providing what we do.

“This award isn’t just great for us, but also our loyal local customers.”
