A PAIR of bakery businesses are teaming up to open in a vacant premises in Beith.

Buns and Crumbs and Trick or Treat Bakery will be coming together to operate inside the former Main Street Bakery in the town which closed just over two years ago.

The businesses will be sharing the space within the store, however will continue to work as separate companies.

Buns and Crumbs is currently operated by Erika Sionis, who is commissioned to make custom cakes for special occasions.

She is also a familiar face at markets in Ayrshire, where her spectacular sweet treats can be sampled.

Announcing that she would be part of the team taking on the vacant Beith premises, Erika explained what the move will mean for her.

She commented: "This means a wider range of products than ever before—think of it like market days, but bigger and better!

"Don’t worry, Buns and Crumbs will still do market dates and custom cakes as usual."

Toni Hume is the face behind Trick or Treat Bakery, which was first launched in 2020 when she was making cakes for family and friends.

In 2023, however, she felt it was time to stop making cakes that didn’t fit with her spooky persona and decided it was spooky cakes and cookies only.

She launched an Etsy store and has travelled up and down the UK trading at horror conventions and alternative markets.

In a separate announcement on the Beith move, Toni also looked to explain what the new premises will mean for her.

She said: "I will be moving from being a registered home bakery to having an actual bakery! You’ve all supported me so much that Trick or treat bakery now needs its own commercial space.

"It’s been one year since I moved to only spooky bakes, and I have been blown away with how supportive the horror community are. I’ve sacrificed a lot and working like a mad woman to make this possible.

"I couldn’t have done this without all your support and for that I am forever grateful.

"It’s time to ramp up production for conventions, markets and online orders. With spooky season just around the corner, expect some scream-worthy treats coming your way!"

The shop is still a work in progress at the moment, but Toni and Erika are working hard in the background to get everything ready to open soon.
