RESURFACING work on a major Ayrshire road will cause overnight closures for almost a week later this month.
The A77, at Ardwell Farm near Girvan, will get the refurbishment from engineering company Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, beginning on Monday, September 23 until Saturday, September 28.
The project aims to benefit drivers who use the road regularly, by improving the safety and condition of the carriageway surface and reducing the need for further maintenance.
Due to the nature of the works, construction is being carried out overnight to ensure the safety of roadworkers and the public.
The closures will take place between 8pm and 6am each night.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be will still be allowed throughout the works.
Both southbound and northbound traffic will be diverted, as well as ferry traffic which will now be able to access Cairnryan from Stranraer.
All traffic management will be removed by 6am on Sunday, September 29.
