THREE Towns residents could get an early taste of what to expect from Ardrossan's new Hub on the Prom this weekend.

Ardrossan Community Development Trust (ACDT) confirmed yesterday that the official opening will take place on Friday, October 11, from 11am.

But the team behind the new community café are planning a "soft opening" this Saturday and Sunday to test the equipment and the menus.

And from Tuesday, they will open more regularly to test footfall during the week.

The new building will also feature a hub along with new toilet facilities for the promenade.

The hub, constructed on the site of the former toilet block on South Beach, was originally supposed to have been completed in March this year, well ahead of the busy holiday season.

But ACDT revealed they were hit by a string of problems with contractors and public services.

Chairman Scott Mould said: "This will be a fantastic facility for Ardrossan and we can only apologise for the delay."
