A MAN was allegedly targeted in an early-hours assault in Saltcoats town centre over the weekend, according to police.
The incident was reported on Sunday morning, September 15 - taking place around the Vernon Street area.
Eyewitnesses had earlier reported seeing part of the street taped off around this time as well as the following morning.
Police have confirmed that they were initially called to the scene following reports that a man was assaulted outside a premises on the street. No information was given with regards to his condition.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.30am on Sunday, September 15, 2024, police received a report of the assault of a 37-year-old man outside a premises in the Vernon Street area of Saltcoats.
"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
