FERRY operators CalMac have warned of possible disruption or cancellations on the Ardrossan to Brodick route today (Friday, September 20).

They also confirmed there will be no sailings from Ardrossan harbour on Saturday and part of Sunday, with the service running from Troon Harbour instead.

CalMac said today that strong easterly winds were to blame for the latest disruption.

The company said: "Due to the forecast of strong easterly winds today, all sailings from the 11.05am departing Brodick onwards are liable to diversion or cancellation at short notice.

"Due to MV Isle of Arran operating to and from Troon on Saturday, September 21, the 7.20pm departing Brodick will divert to Troon arriving at 8.40pm. There will be a bus connecting with the arrival in Troon to transport foot passengers to Ardrossan."

For tomorrow (Saturday, September 21), the company warned: "Due to the forecast of strong Easterly winds, the following timetable will operate to and from Troon and not Ardrossan.

"Depart Troon - 7am, 11am, 3pm and 6.40pm. Depart Brodick - 8.50am, 12.50pm and 4.50pm.

"A bus has been organised to take foot passengers from Ardrossan, departing at 6am, 10am, 2pm and 5,.40pm to meet sailings now departing Troon.

"A bus will also meet MV Isle of Arran arrival in Troon to transport foot passengers that have been displaced from Ardrossan."

Further wind problems are anticipated for Sunday, September 22, when an amended timetable will operate once again.

Sunday's service will depart Brodick at 8.20am arriving in Troon at 9.40am. It will depart Troon 10.30am (the delayed 9.45am diverted from Ardrossan)  and arrive in Brodick at 11.50am.

There will be a bus organised to depart Ardrossan at 9.30am to transport foot passengers that have been displaced from Ardrossan.

Sailings will then divert back to Ardrossan as follows: Depart Brodick - 12.20pm, 3.20pm and 7.05pm. Depart Ardrossan at 1.50pm and 5.35pm.
