A FOOTPATH in Stevenston was taped off by police amid "concern for a person", it has been confirmed.
Locals had reported earlier today, Friday September 27, that the walkway near Millhill Road - known locally as Mill Dam, had been closed off by officers.
A number of officers were sighted around the path which connects Glencairn Street and Stevenston cross.
Police Scotland have now confirmed that they were acting in response to reports of "concern for a person".
No further details on the concerns raised were disclosed by the force.
The path has since re-opened to the public as normal.
