PLENTY of fun was had by families in Saltcoats as a local community group hosted their 'pirate day'.
The shore front was transformed last week as the Saltcoats Active Lifestyle Team (SALT) hosted the event for the third time.
The day of entertainment was supported by a number of other organisations from the area who helped ensure it was another roaring success.
Amongst those helping to provide the entertainment were some fantastic face painters, Connected Communities mobile youth centre, Chatty Chalkers and Drum 4UR Life.
Fabulous Fraser also had a constant queue of youngsters looking to take a balloon sculpture memento to take away.
There was also plenty of fantastic food on offer thanks to the support of Allison's Snack Van, an ice cream van, the sweetie table and The Melbourne Café.
North Ayrshire Council's locality officers also organised a scavenger hunt which was another big hit with all in attendance.
Even more entertainment was provided by the local community fire station and Coastguard teams who offered up their time to help youngsters learn a little more about what they do.
There were even some special guests with 'Betsy Miller, Captain Sparrow and Captain Rogers' all making an appearance on the day.
A number of local organisations and businesses provided equipment for the event in a true showing of the community supporting each other.
Donna McGregor, the chair of SALT, said: "Thank you so much to everyone who came along to pirate day. To see you all coming out again is still a dream come true.
"The event wouldn’t have been possible without the S.A.L.T committee who over the last few weeks have given up so much of their own time to make today a day to remember.
"It wouldn’t have been possible without the continued support that we receive from the local community and businesses. Thank you so much to you all."
Councillor Jean McClung - aka Betsy Miller - added: “Once again I find myself in awe of what this dedicated group of volunteers continues to contribute to our local community.
"I cannot thank them all enough for the hours of planning that goes into the numerous successful events they have organised.
"They are doing a wonderful job in bringing people together to enjoy what Saltcoats has to offer.
"Well done to the indefatigable Donna, David, Laura, Lynsey, Glenn and Malcolm!”
