ONE of Saltcoats' most loved shops is set to close next year.
It comes after the owners of town centre store Babies World announced that they would be stepping aside.
The family run store made the announcement on Monday, September 30, confirming that owners Duncan and Tricia Cousins have decided to retire.
Their daughter Donna Bowie says she will be "pursuing other opportunities". The decision follows a fantastic 22 years on Hamilton Street, serving the people of Saltcoats.
No official confirmation of a closing date has been announced at this stage, with the owners stating they will still be trading "well into 2025".
In their announcement, Donna said: "We are sad to inform you all that we have made the extremely hard decision to bring an end to Babies World.
"Babies World has been trading for over 22 years and we are immensely proud of our small business.
"Many of our customers have become friends and it has been a pleasure watching your children grow and to see them dressed in our clothes.
"It's time to step down and its now the right time for Duncan and Tricia to retire and for myself to pursue other opportunities
"We would like to thank all our amazing customers for their loyal support and custom over the years. It’s been a blast.
"We are fully stocked with the usual wonderful stock and will be trading well into 2025 so you all will have plenty of time and stock to use up any outstanding gift vouchers and accounts."
The news was met with much sadness though customers were quick to wish everyone well for their future endeavours.
One said: "So sorry to hear of your wonderful family business closing. Another fab business will be gone
"I do wish Duncan and Tricia good wishes on your retirement and Donna, wish you the best on whatever adventure you decide on next."
While another added: "Sad news, but got to do what’s best for you three. I hope your mum and dad enjoy retirement and you continue to love your new job.
"Eight years of shopping for all the beautiful baby clothes, gifts and a good yap, I will miss our chats and popping my head through the door.
"Big hugs. I know it’s not been easy to decide on this."
