PREPARATIONS are well in hand for this year's Remembrance Day services - as the Royal British Legion Scotland's Saltcoats, Ardrossan and Stevenston branch mark their own 100th birthday.

Volunteers will be collecting at all major supermarkets in the area towards the end of this month. Please look out for them and support when and where you can.

A Legion spokesperson said: "If you want to help this year either in a supermarket or with the street collection on Saturday, November 9 please contact Mr Paul Swainson, welfare.rbls.sas.branch@gmail.com or any branch committee member.

"If you are a retailer and wish to have a poppy can for the first time, please let Paul know. The generosity of the Three Towners has been great over the years and please may it continue.

"Note all SAS branch poppy-collectors will have authorised identification so if worried please ask for the collectors ID, if they don't have ID then please report them to the Legion or police."

This year's Remembrance events will be held on Sunday, November 10.

On Remembrance Sunday, the Saltcoats Parade will form at 10.30am in Bradshaw St, between Motherland Spice and the Masonic club, then follow the Isle of Cumbrae Pipe Band to the war memorial.

The Ardrossan service will start with a parade from behind the Ardrossan Library on Princes St at 12.30pm.

The Stevenston service will start at 1.30pm, at the junction of New St and Moorpark Road West.

Membership renewals for the Legion will be due end of October and any new members will also be processed at this time.
