DREAMS came true for two Ardrossan kids after Scotland faced Portugal at Hampden Park on Tuesday, October 15.

Football fanatics Lewis Toner and Lewis Walker were overjoyed when they had the opportunity to meet some of their national team heroes - as well as Portugal striker Cristiano Ronaldo...

Five-time Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldo gathered plenty of attention as he came to Scotland to represent his country for the 216th time in the match.

It became well known that the 39-year-old was staying within the Cameron House hotel with the Portuguese squad.

He also attracted much fanfare when his side were training at St Mirren's SMiSA Stadium.

Ardrossan youngsters Lewis and Lewis were amongst the hundreds who turned out at both locations in the hope of meeting one of the greatest footballers of all time.

Despite their luck appearing to be out, a last ditch attempt to meet the former Real Madrid and Manchester United star at the Blythswood Square Hotel turned up trumps.

"After the game we heard he was heading back to the hotel," mum Sarah Toner explained.

"We got there and waited for the legend himself to come out of a private car and sign the kids books and got a picture. It's a moment they will never forget!"

In an added bonus, some members of the Scotland national team also turned out at the famous Glasgow hotel.

It meant the boys could meet even more top football talents - capturing snaps with Ryan Gauld, Lewis Morgan and Che Adams.

Sarah added: "The boys were fantastic and took the time to chat with them. It makes you proud to be Scottish."
