(Image: Newsquest) An Ardrossan DJ was Top of the Pops in 2004 when he was awarded an MBE by HM The Queen at Buckingham Palace. Former Westsound DJ Jeff Graham, formerly known as Graham Caddies, was recognised for the work he had done over 11 years as a Special Constable with Lancashire Police.

(Image: Newsquest) A Kilbirnie disabled swimmers’ group hit out at North Ayrshire Leisure for failing to provide adequate facilities at Garnock Swimming Pool in 2004. The group said the lack of specific disabled showers and chairs for their six wheelchair users mean most of them were forced to shower at home.

(Image: Newsquest) Arran View Nursing Home laundry ladies Liz Hipson, Susan Ferguson, Sandra Breckenridge and Liz Foster raised £414 for Marie Curie Cancer Care by walking an incredible 2,567,450 steps around Saltcoats in a couple of months.
