MV Isle of Arran is back on the Ardrossan to Brodick route on Wednesday after completing successful sea trials.

The vessel had been in for its annual maintenance but during its absence, the Arran ferry service faced a wave of cancellations.

Weekend storms led to services being halted - then technical disruptions elsewhere on the CalMac service on Tuesday forced the company to divert the replacement vessel MV Lord of the Isles.

That led to the cancellation of ferry services between Ardrossan and Brodick on Tuesday.

CalMac confirmed: "Sea trials have been successful and MV Isle of Arran will resume service with the 7am sailing departing Ardrossan."

Meanwhile services between Troon Harbour and Arran will face some changes on Wednesday and at the weekend.

CalMac said: "Due to disruption elsewhere in the network, MV Alfred will operate the following amended timetable: Depart Troon – 8.35am, 12.45pm and 4.25pm. Depart Brodick – 10.25am, 2.35pm and 6.15pm.

"On Sunday, October 27, due to operating an additional sailing on Wednesday, October 23 and following consultation with the community, the following sailings have been cancelled:
Depart Troon – 4.25pm, depart Brodick – 6.15pm.

"Due to this cancellation, MV Alfred will now operate the following amended timetable: Depart Troon – 8.30am, 1.30pm, Depart Brodick – 10.20am, 3.20pm."
