A SALTCOATS pub is looking to expand with the creation of a new outdoor area.
The Salt Cot is bringing a licensing application to North Ayrshire Council which will seek to add a 'raised deck' to the rear of the building.
The request forms part of a wider application which is to be brought before the authority's licensing board on Monday, December 2.
The JD Wetherspoon bar will be looking to make a number of changes to its current premises licence as part of this process.
Major works last took place at the Salt Cot in late 2019 and early 2020 when the green light was given to a planning application - paving the way for a £135,000 refurbishment which included outdoor redecoration and improvements to their current outdoor area.
The main alteration the Hamilton Street pub are looking to make on this occasion is an increase on their current capacity.
They plan to do so with the "creation of a new external area to the rear carpark of the premises on a raised deck".
The boozer backs on to the Kirkgate carpark, which hosts the Saltcoats market on a weekly basis, and this is the area referred to in this application.
It is unclear at this stage the exact impact, if any, the new area would have on parking provisions.
By adding this external seating area the capacity of the Salt Cot would increase by 80 persons - to a total of 335.
Smaller changes proposed within the application include the addition of two glazed doors to the rear of the premises - which would lead onto the planned new seating area.
While the bar is also looking to make internal alterations to the ramp within its customer area.
Further information has not been detailed at this early stage, however objections or representations supporting the application can now be made.
These should be emailed to licensing@north-ayrshire.gov.uk or submitted in writing to 1st Floor Cunninghame House, Irvine, KA12 8EE before November 8.
