A THIRD man has now been arrested in connection with the death of John Taylor in Kilwinning.

Police Scotland have now confirmed that a 19-year-old male has been apprehended, just hours after a second arrest, of a man aged 53, was made as part of their investigations into the incident.

It has not been confirmed if either person has yet been charged.

Both arrests were made on Friday, October 25. The first person to be detained, a 26-year-old man, was arrested and charged in connection with the death on Tuesday, October 22.

Kiey O’Connor then appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court the next day, where he made no plea to charges of murder and of attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

Following his appearance he was committed for further examination and remanded in custody. He is set to return to court in the coming days.

Mr Taylor, aged 44, was found with serious injuries outside of his home on Pollock Crescent around 1.55pm on Friday, October 18. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The day following his death, following a post mortem examination, police confirmed that they were investigating murder - stating they believed the incident to be a "targeted attack".

Following this latest arrest, Police Scotland say that enquiries remain ongoing and asked any member of the public who may be able to assist in their investigations to come forward.

A force spokesperson said: "Detectives have set up a website that gives members of the public access to a form to send information directly to the Major Investigation Team, which can be submitted anonymously."

The portal can be accessed at: https://orlo.uk/VzdrG.

They added: "Alternatively, anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 1878 of October 18, 2024."
