A POPULAR local artist has just unveiled his latest project - which is a step away from the canvas.
Three Towns man Tragic O'Hara published and released his first book this month, 'A Practical Guide to Walrus Chasing'.
The 'guide' has an incredible backstory, and is based on Tragic's own personal experience dealing with Combined ADHD.
Walrus chasing is in fact a completely imaginary coping mechanism the artist came up with - while blissfully aware that he had the condition, which he was diagnosed with this year.
Tragic explained: "In 2021 I became a professional walrus chaser. It all started because I couldn’t stop listening to I am The Walrus every day on repeat for hours at a time.
"I’ve been walrus chasing since the night I was on the way to the shop to buy a bottle of red wine and a bag of cheese bugles.
"I am The Walrus by The Beatles came on shuffle and I walked right past the shop, listening to the same song over and over again for three hours, just feeling slightly like less of an a******e I usually did.
"That was the night I started to talk to myself in the consequence free environment in my head while thinking about the walrus."
In the day following this, Tragic then gave his notice into his then employer.
"I had decided that my time was a currency," he commented, "and from that point on I was only going to exchange my time for money - so I could use the money to buy my self the time to chase the walrus."
While his 'walrus chasing' antics may appear confusing on the surface, Tragic feels that his recent diagnosis perhaps explain the reason behind this.
He said: "I was told by my doctor that it was impossible to have ADHD if you have Higher English - so I used my Higher English to write myself The Guide.
"The guide to surviving the system that was never designed for me in the first place.
"I think because I have Combined ADHD, I have written a guide to manoeuvring Combined ADHD, when I had no idea I had it in the first place."
