AN ARDROSSAN boxer is celebrating success after claiming gold at a major competition.
Aidyn Collins was one of hundreds of athletes who took part in the Boxing Scotland Development Championships - the nation's biggest grassroots competition - over the past two weekends.
The talented teen battled his way through the various stages of the competition to earn a spot in his respective final which took place on Sunday, October 27.
Following this, only one boxer stood between Aidyn and a gold medal - though he faced a daunting task.
The IMC Project boxer had taken on his final opponent only weeks before, at his home club's show, and faced defeat on that occasion.
However, the Ardrossan boy put in a fantastic performance to win the fight - and become the lightweight Scottish A novice champion.
IMC Project coach Jim Montgomerie commented: "Aidyn has put in so much effort over the last three weeks and dedicated all his time to reach this incredible achievement.
"It just shows you that if you are willing to listen and put the effort in you can achieve anything.
