A MAN accused of making threats while brandishing a knife is set to stand trial next year after denying the alleged offence.
Allan Campbell pleaded not guilty to a pair of charges when he appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on November 5.
The 32-year-old is said to have behaved in a threatening or abusive manner during an incident at a property in Kilbirnie on December 17, 2022.
Court papers claim he acted aggressively, shouted, swore and uttered a threat while brandishing a knife or similar implement.
A further charge also relates to the alleged possession of a bladed weapon.
During a brief appearance in the dock, Campbell's solicitor Simon Brown stated that he was happy for a trial date to be fixed.
Prosecutor Gemma McKechnie explained that the case had previously been continued from an earlier date to allow the Crown to obtain the availability of witnesses.
The procurator fiscal depute stated that this has now been ascertained, with four witnesses - two civilians and two police officers - to be called at trial.
She added that the accused had no other matters outstanding, and is currently remanded in custody.
Sheriff Murdoch Mactaggart scheduled a trial date, with the case to come back to court in the new year.
Campbell will remain in custody in the meantime.
