CALMAC have warned that Arran ferry services could be disrupted or cancelled due to an ongoing problem with harbour navigation aids at Ardrossan today and tomorrow.
And the announcement has led to some caustic remarks on island social media groups.
In a statement on their website, the company revealed: "Due to an issue with the harbour navigational aids at Ardrossan, impacting the vessel's ability to safely manoeuvre in darkness, the following sailings are liable to disruption or cancellation at short notice. Depart Ardrossan - 7am and 6pm; Depart Brodick - 4.40pm and 7.20pm."
The announcement did not go down well on the Arran Moans and Groans Facebook group today, with one person commenting: "Seriously? Can no one change a lightbulb?"
Another added: "The guy that changes the green bulbs is on holiday and the fella that changes red bulbs can’t change green bulbs..."
A third added: "We can put a man on the moon but CalMac can't find their way into Ardrossan harbour when a light goes out."
