EXCITING details have been revealed ahead of the grand return of the Saltcoats Christmas Carnival.

Due to constraints on the former committee, the town centre event did not take place in 2023.

However, the fantastic day of family fun is back this year - with the whole town pulling together to make it happen, including an amazing 45 local businesses which have all contributed to the effort so far.

Taking place on Sunday, November 24, there are a whole host of activities arranged for the event - which will run from 12-6pm.

Only one activity taking place will incur a charge - a small funfair which will be set up at the train station car park.

An all day wristband for access to this will be available at a cost of £5, with all other aspects of the day completely free.

There will be some spectacular entertainment which will be taking place within the town hall throughout the event.

This includes face painting, a ukulele band, a Shibumi Karate Club demonstration and a magic show.

The small room in the town hall will also be open to the public to visit sensory dogs provided by Maggie’s muddy mutts.

A main stage will also be in place on Countess Street and will feature performances from musicians Mark Findlay and Amanda Jean as well as a performances from Dance Mafia, Auchenharvie Singers, St Anthony’s and Dykesmains Primary School.

Even more areas of the town will be getting involved with the Kirkgate Church set to host the event's two main Santa's grottos.

Entertainment will also be provided by The Mobile Cinema plus some other special guests to help Santa out.

Two other local businesses will also be opening their doors to support the carnival.

The Kids Village will be hosting a free Welcome to Who-Village event where there will be an opportunity to meet a special guest.

As well as this, for the first time, the carnival committee is putting on a day for kids with additional support needs to have their own space to meet Santa.

This is to be set up within the Metro nightclub, with the owners stepping up to arrange the use of the space which will have a similar setup inside to the town hall.

The event will be topped off by a special appearance from the Abseiling Santa down the clock tower at the Town Hall to switch on the Christmas lights at 5pm.

Organisers are still looking for 250 selection boxes to be donated from the local businesses and cash donations towards helping with costs of the event too.

Those looking to get in touch with organisers, and keep up to date with the latest timings for the carnival, can do so via their Facebook page.
