AN INCREDIBLE night of fundraising has been organised in honour of a much-loved local.

Family and friends will be paying tribute to Josh Crawford in a way truly fitting of his character on what would have been his 30th birthday on November 30.

Josh sadly passed away in July of 2022, aged 27, after succumbing to injuries he suffered in a road accident on Lawson Drive in Ardrossan.

He was adored by many among the local community, which was clearly evident following his passing.

More than £3,000 was raised prior to his funeral, to give him the "send off he deserved" during his final journey.

Family and friends came together previously to raise funds in his memory, hosting a 'birthday bash' in 2022 and making a fantastic donation to ward 61 of the institute for neuroscience at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow were Josh had been treated.

The local community has once again come together for their latest effort, with an incredible night planned to raise money for Organ Donation Scotland, more specifically the Donor Transplant Coordinator Fund.

The event will be taking place on November 30 in the Metro nightclub in Saltcoats - with owners Gary Burns and Stevie Miller kindly donating the venue for use free of charge.

The kind-hearted nightclub duo also donated two tickets for the Metro's GBX evening earlier this month - with the tickets raffled off and helping to raise £295.

The night will be invite only from 8-11pm, and open to everyone thereafter until closing time at 2.30am.

In the lead up to the event, cash will be raised via the sale of raffle tickets up until the prize draw takes place on the night at 11pm.

Those looking to purchase tickets can do so from Josh's mum Margaret, his dad, Ali, or sister Afton.

Prizes include a number of themed - Christmas, lady's, men’s, drinks and 'stoner' - hampers.

The details of the contents of these prizes will be posted on Afton's Facebook publicly once they are made up.

There will also be a number of activities taking place on the night to further boost the money raised for Organ Donation Scotland.

A boxing machine has been hired for the event, costing £1 per shot, with a bottle of watermelon AU Vodka to be awarded to the highest scoring male and female.

A 'buckin bronco' will also be in place from 8.30pm-12.30am, costing £2 per ride, with the person who can stay on the longest winning a 'The Wild Bill Hiccup package' which will include the ingredients to make the popular cocktail Venom.

Music for the night will be provided by talented Irvine DJ Daz Scott who has recently been selected by BBC Radio One Dance to introduce his unreleased music.

He will also be familiar to many from running events and club nights via Daz's Gaff. Daz has kindly donated his fee for the evening straight to charity.

Photographer Taylor Sneddon will also be at the event, and the talented snapper will make sure the event is well captured.

Ahead of the big night, Afton has explained how much the event - and raising funds for Organ Donation Scotland - means to her and the rest of Josh's family.

She said: "Organ Donation Scotland were amazing with us during Josh’s hospital stay and supported us during the whole process.

"Josh hadn’t been registered to donate nor had he opted not to. The decision was left to us and we chose to donate.

"Josh had a very caring, kind and loving nature - he would have given his last to anyone in need so they wouldn’t struggle and this seemed a very fitting last act.

"His heart, liver, pancreas and kidneys were donated which managed to save a total of four lives!"
