KILWINNING'S Christmas Lights switch-on has been postponed.
The event, which will also feature a fantastic festive market, was due to take place on Saturday, November 23.
However, organisers Choose Kilwinning have taken the decision to delay the switch-on with the weather forecast for this weekend far from promising.
The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for the whole of Ayrshire with heavy snow, rain and blustery conditions expected.
As a result, Choose Kilwinning has come to the decision to delay the event until next weekend - Saturday, November 30.
The event timings will remain as previously scheduled with the switch-on to run from 1.30-6pm. Further details are to be provided in due course.
A Choose Kilwinning spokesperson said: "As a direct result of the yellow weather warning issued surrounding Storm Bert for Saturday, November 23, Choose Kilwinning has taken the hard decision to reschedule the Christmas lights switch-on and market planned for this day.
"We know folks will be disappointed, as are we, but the safety of all involved and those who would have attended is paramount. Met Office advice is 'not to travel'.
"We will not let the weather stop us coming together and celebrating the lights and our town.
"Details will follow but keep your diaries free for Saturday November 30."
Updates will be provided throughout the coming week via the Choose Kilwinning Facebook page.
