THE ARDROSSAN Christmas Lights Group have been given a boost from Hunterston Rotary Club.

The club made its November award of £200 to the group, who are striving to spread Christmas cheer and light up the town for the month of December.

Volunteers Nathan Payne and Ami McCabe from the Lights Group arrived at the club's most recent meeting to accept the cheque.

This is the third grant to local groups who are raising funds to provide Christmas lights following North Ayrshire Council’s withdrawal of funding.

Community grants have already been made in West Kilbride and Saltcoats, and the members have agreed to give the December Grant to Stevenston’s volunteer group.

Laura Jayne Reid, speaking on behalf of the Ardrossan group, said: “We will have our big switch on event on Friday, November 29, featuring a parade, Christmas craft stalls, Santa's Grotto and live performances.

"We welcome all of Ardrossan and surrounding areas to join in some festive fun!”

Hunterston Rotary would like to wish the group good luck with the big event and Merry Christmas from all at the club.
