NORTH Ayrshire Council has issued an update to residents amid roadworks bedlam in Ardrossan.
There are currently a number of projects ongoing in the town, meaning temporary traffic lights are now in place at four separate locations.
The developments taking place concurrently also means that larger vehicles, carrying materials, will be using local roads during this time.
At present, preparatory works on the Ardrossan Community Campus are ongoing and power cable works are currently being carried out.
This has required lights to be in place on Montgomerie Street and its junction with Barr Street. These are expected to be completed early next year.
Most recently, active travel path works have commenced on Eglinton Road, which are scheduled to be ongoing until February next year with temporary measures in place during this time.
The first project that is expected to be completed is urgent Scottish Power work which is taking place on the town's Dalry Road. This is due to be finished on December 6.
The final ongoing works had been in place on Parkhouse Road though no further details have been provided with regards to this.
Looking to reassure locals, the council said that its roads team is now looking to restrict any further programmed works in the Ardrossan area as far as is possible, but will have no powers to prevent urgent works from proceeding.
Councillor Tony Gurney, cabinet member for green environment and economy, said: “We felt it was important to just clarify the current position and let people know that there is likely to be some disruption over the coming weeks.
“We are aware of the pressure this will put on local roads and we will do everything possible to try and keep disruption to a minimum.
"The works being carried out are essential and we are sure some short-term disruption will be worth it in the longer term. We will continue to keep people updated.”
