THE North Ayrshire Bowling League grew even tighter at the top of the table with just five points separating the top six teams.

As the results trickled in, it was clear an interesting night had taken place with no bonus point wins for any of the top four, the first draw of the season and two of the chasing pack getting 3-0 wins.

Runaway leaders West Kilbride travelled down to Stevenston knowing that a win at Ardeer would all but seal them the title for the third year in a row.

But the home club had other ideas and held West Kilbride to a draw, 76 shots each.

Kilwinning and Saltcoats both knew they had to try and catch the top team but neither capitalised on their slip up although they both won their respective games.

Kilwinning travelled to Skelmorlie to face the side second bottom in the league and won in comfortable fashion but couldn’t quite get to the 30 shot margin, winning 86-66.

Saltcoats continued their fine run of form and picked up another two points, this time at home against Fairlie.

But the visiting side didn’t leave empty handed, having got within nine shots of the hosts and for a losing bonus point.

Dalry and Glengarnock were the big winners of the week after they recorded the single biggest victory of the season so far.

A 121-39 win over Ardeer Rec at Glengarnock was enough to see them jump back up to fifth place in the league.

Ardrossan bounced back from two defeats in a row with a convincing 39 shot win over visitors Largs BC.

The home club picked up wins on all five rinks to win by 90 shots to 51 and move up the table to sixth place.

And in the second closest game of the night, Largs Halkshill held on to defeat Kilbirnie for the second time in three days after they won their Ayrshire Top Ten tie on Wednesday night. The home side ran out winners by 73-70 to take a 2-1 win.
