ARDROSSAN Winton Rovers boss Stevie Wilson says he hopes the club will be able to play some friendlies early next year.
Winton were one of several teams to pull out of this season’s West of Scotland Football League over concerns relating to the coronavirus pandemic.
However, Wilson is hopeful that if restrictions are eased in early 2021 and fans are allowed to return in a safe manner then football could return to Winton Park sooner rather than later.
He told the Herald: “I am hoping that around February time that there may be some good news on allowing supporters back to grounds and players will be able to use dressing rooms properly.
“I have already spoken to other clubs that have pulled out and if we can get moving again then we will go and play each other and start building for the next season.
“For me, the club made the right decision 100 per cent to pull out and there is no regrets. I have seen games from a distance and players changing at the side without dressing rooms and it’s not on.
“Players would have missed training for work if they are not getting paid and all I would have been doing is babysitting them. With no promotion or relegation then for me it means nothing.”
