THE Ardrossan Winton Rovers committee has provided an update as improvement work at the club's home ground continues at pace.

It is now hoped that Winton Park will be handed back over to the new leaseholders - the Ardrossan Community Sports Hub - by the middle of October.

A number of teams and clubs will pay to use the pitch, with any profits put back into the community by the sports hub.

It is planned that Winton will be able to play their first match at the stadium by the end of October.

After that, an open day will be planned to 'officially' open the venue. This will also provide an opportunity for the club to formally thank the SFA and North Ayrshire Council who helped make the project possible through grant support.

At present, the ground is edging ever closer to completion. One part of the project - the installation of new floodlights - is already complete, with the new structures ready to go once connected to the grid.

The pitch itself is taking shape nicely, with a all levelling and digging works now complete.

A padded base layer has been installed across a majority of the field, with the new synthetic surface also in place across a small section already.

The new changing units are also set to be delivered next month, and will be all but good to go when they arrive at the Anderson Terrace park.

The club are delighted to see the progress being made - and gave thanks to RJ McLeod for supporting the project as they work on the new Ardrossan Campus - with the facility set to provide an excellent resource to the town.

Not only will it benefit a number of local football clubs, it is also hoped that other groups within the area will be able to make use of the facility.

The Juventus Academy have even taken an interest and plan to visit the park to hold their Easter camps next year.
