AYRSHIRE'S table topping rugby union sides have continued their electric starts to the season.
A number of clubs from across the region find themselves pushing at the top end of the league after the opening few weekends of fixtures.
It starts right at the very top in the National Premiership where Ayr RFC lead the way.
After securing bonus point wins in each of their opening four matches, the Millbrae club added to their tally on Saturday, September 28.
Ayr were dominant once again as they cruised to a 57-12 win at home to Glasgow Hawks.
It was also a fine weekend for Ayrshire's other top league side Marr RFC. The Troon based club have had an inconsistent start to this season but returned to winning ways on Saturday.
They put in an outstanding showing for the home crowd as they ran out comfortable 42-19 winners against Kelso RFC - propelling them into the top half of the table.
In the National League Division Three, it was a tough weekend for Garnock RFC who tasted defeat for the first time this season.
It is a feeling the Garnock Valley club have rarely felt in the past two seasons, where they secured back to back promotions, but Howe of Fife RFC proved too much on Saturday.
Despite putting a lot of points on the board, Garnock lost out 61-29 away from home but remain in third place after picking up a try bonus point.
In the league below, the National Division Four, Ardrossan Accies remained unbeaten with a resounding win away to Greenock Wanderers.
Imperious in both defence and attack, Andrew Duncan's side won 43-3 to maintain top place in the league after winning all of their opening four matches.
Into the regional leagues and in West Division One it is still Kilmarnock RFC who lead the way.
The East Ayrshire outfit continued their dominant form on Saturday and have now won each of their six matches so far this season - picking up a winning bonus point in each match.
Against Annan RFC this weekend, the home crowd were wowed by a stunning 85-3 victory over Annan RFC.
Cumnock RFC have seen their shaky start to the campaign continue, as they fell to their fifth defeat in six matches.
It was a narrow loss this weekend, with the 14-21 scoreline unfortunately favouring visitors Cambuslang.
In West Division Two, there was the small matter of an all-Ayrshire tie at Marress between Irvine RFC and Carrick RFC.
It was the visitors who prevailed in the match, winning 45-0 to maintain their title challenge - with the Maybole side currently in second position just four points from top.
For Irvine, the loss sees them slip down the table into third bottom, in what is a tightly packed middle section of the league.
In women's rugby, Ayr RFC are still awaiting their first win of the season in West Division One.
They faced a tough match on Sunday, September 29, at home to West of Scotland and despite a strong showing fell to a narrow 15-31 defeat.
In Division Two, Irvine RFC were out of action this weekend with no matches played in the league.
And although matches were played in Division Three, Marr RFC were without a fixture this weekend - as a result of an odd number of teams participating in the league.
