ARDROSSAN Accies continued their perfect start to their National League Division Four season on Saturday, October 5, securing their fifth consecutive victory.
The Memorial Field side currently top the league standings after they picked up their fourth bonus point of the season with a 41-14 win at home to Whitecraigs.
The run has seen Andrew Duncan's men maintain their form from last season, which saw them earn promotion from the regional leagues with a 100 per cent winning record.
Instrumental throughout both campaigns has been fly-half Jack Anderson, who says despite not facing a league defeat since early 2023 the Accies are yet to hit top gear.
He said: “To keep the winning momentum going is brilliant, it’s the old saying that winning becomes a habit and that’s definitely true.
“We definitely have a couple of gears left that we haven’t used yet but when we find them consistently for a full 80 minutes it’s going to be very exciting to see and I don’t see many teams being able to live with us.
“That being said I don’t think any of us are overly happy with our performances so far.
“To me that just shows how big the shift in mentality has been and we want to keep getting better and better.”
Anderson - who has kicked an impressive 119 points already this season - says he is pleased with how the Accies have adapted to life back in the national leagues.
He continued: “Personally, I’ve been really pleased with how the group has handled the expectations.
"We all now realise we are expected to win every time we pull the badge on and I think it’s something that helps lift us on game days.
“Nothing has changed in terms of the way we approach games.
"Obviously there is a bit more travel this season being back in the national leagues and that’s came with some teething issues – like the bus getting lost on the way to Linlithgow - but we took it in our stride and came away with a great win."
Anderson is also hoping the run can continue, as he looks to prove doubters of the club wrong.
He added: “I think we are ready, some people wrote us off I seen a rather funny post on a Scottish rugby forum of some guy predicting us to finish second last.
“I can’t wait to go back to that post at the end of the season and give him my thoughts.
“At the end of the day the outside noise doesn’t bother us, we’re more than happy to let other people talk and we will do our best to do our talking on the pitch.”
Next up for Ardrossan is a tough trip away to Hamilton Bulls on Saturday, October 12, before another journey to play Dunfermline RFC the following week.
Then on October 26, Accies face the only other side in the league with a perfect record as they host Strathmore RFC.
While Jack says the team are not looking too far ahead, he admitted he has half an eye on the top of the table clash.
He commented: “As a team we aren’t looking at it yet.
"Personally, I have been since the fixtures came out. It’s the weekend of my 30th - I know I don’t look it - and to make it even better I have a friend and ex-Ayr team mate playing for them.
“I’m looking forward to seeing him and sharing a beer - hopefully after a nice win.”
